We have done a lot of ziplining on our family adventures over the years. While there are a few Kauai zipline companies, nothing tops Koloa Zipline. Our family has had an incredible experience each time we’ve visited. You get to soak up breathtaking views of the valley floor and treetops as you zoom past with hilarious guides. Sound perfect? In my opinion, it pretty much is! Below are my top 3 reasons for loving Koloa Zipline.
A little background; we had our first experience ziplining in Costa Rica and it was fun but quite intense! It wasn’t until we had our first experience at Koloa Zipline that I really fell in love with this adventurous activity.
Now, there’s no doubt I would include ziplining on my list of recommendations for activities to do while staying in Kauai.
3 Reasons Koloa Zipline is the Best Kauai Zipline Experience
The BEST Kauai Ziplines
We, as seasoned zippers (yes I made that term up – go with it!), craved a zipline course that was both exhilarating and unique. Koloa even offers some of Kauai’s longest zipline experiences!
They also offer the “Flyin’ Kaua’ian” which is a special harness that allows you to zip headfirst in a Superman-type position. The hubby and I tried that and the first zip was both frightening & wonderful all at the same time. Have no worries if you are new to ziplining, they provide a full training on how to zipline before you go, and it’s super easy.
The course has 8 lines- featuring 3 of the longest lines on the island including the Waita zip line which was a full 1/2 mile long. It felt like you were flying forever it was AWESOME!!!
The kids flew alone for most of the ziplining but on the last zipline, they needed to fly tandem which they thought was so much fun. They also preferred the pulley handlebars with automatic braking (a plus) and not having to break all by themselves.
Incredible Kauai Views
The backdrop is a sprawling 22,000-acre Sugar Plantation, Hawaii’s first. The views from here, especially of Kauai’s southern side, are so mesmerizing that it feels surreal, like peering at a green screen.
It’s no wonder segments of “Jurassic World” were shot here. It adds an extra layer of coolness for the young ones, connecting the history and culture of the place with pop culture.
Hilarious Guides
I feel like on many occasions we hit the jackpot when it comes to guides and Koloa was NO exception. We laughed so hard from the moment we hopped on the bus with our guides until we said our goodbyes.
Peanut, Fati, and Miles were funny (appropriately for kids too), knowledgeable and they took amazing care of our whole family. I think the guides were my husband’s favorite part of the tour…. he really appreciates jokes.
BONUS! We Loved the Snacks!
Yup! Koloa includes delicious homemade Hawaiian trailmix, granola bars and juices during your 3.5 hour journey. This was a HUGE plus when you are traveling with munchkins who are working up a hunger. No need for any hangry kids while on vacation! They aren’t stingy either… you can have as much as you’d like and its delicious!!
Other Activities in Koloa
If ziplining is not everyone’s cup of tea, there are some other great activities in Koloa! First off, it’s just a beautiful area. Poipu Beach Park, one of our favorites, is located in Koloa. The National Tropical Botanical Garden and the Spouting Horn are also in the area.
Best of all, there is actually an amazing ATV experience at the same property as the ziplines. So, if some of your party is a bit leery of flying through the air, they can always enjoy another fun activity.
I can easily say Koloa Zipline was the BEST activity we tried while in Kauai. Each person in our family agrees… it was an absolute blast!!! They offer ATV/ Zipline Combo Tours and I will definitely be trying that one when we return.

I love how you described ziplining as almost looking at a green screen at times. I have never been on a zip line before but I would love to try it out sometime and feel like I am looking at a green screen. I will have to find a place where I can try out zip lining and have some fun and adventure!
