When Traveling Around The Golden Circle Stay at Héradsskólinn Boutique Hostel
What once was an old school building built in 1928 stands the Héradsskólinn Boutique Hostel. The building was originally designed by the greatest architect in the history of Iceland, Guojon Samuelsson, and built by Jónas from Hrifla a politician who believed in education, art, and culture. Jónas wanted Héradsskólinn to be considered one of the most prominent buildings in education and culture in Iceland and to this day it still is. In fact, the exterior of the house and the staircase is preserved as a national treasury. The building stood empty from 1996 until it was re-opened in 2013 as a boutique hostel.
