Millions of coffee-lovers around the world rejoice when Starbucks releases their annual holiday drinks. One such drink that has turned into a classic from the coffee chain is the Peppermint Mocha.
We have an easy DIY recipe for a Starbucks’ Skinny Peppermint Mocha! The absolute epitome of winter in a cup, this refreshingly minty yet deliciously chocolatey concoction conjures images of roaring hearths and horse-drawn sleighs, but now you can enjoy it with fewer calories!
The biggest calorie culprits in Starbucks’ drinks are the full-fat milks and sugary syrups. When ordering a Skinny Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks, substitute the milk for non-fat or a non-dairy option such as almond milk or oat milk to cut calories. Other dairy free options could be coconut milk or almond milk.
You can also ask for sugar-free peppermint syrup, skinny (low-cal) mocha sauce, and no whipped cream or chocolate curls!
Unfortunately, with the classic holiday flavor comes some classic holiday calories as well. But you are in luck- there’s a few easy substitutions you can make when ordering the Peppermint Mocha that make it “skinny”, with fewer calories so you can indulge, guilt-free!
But there is another way to cut the calories in your Skinny Peppermint Mocha- and you get to avoid the long lines at Starbucks and save money while doing it! You can easily replicate the Peppermint Mocha in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Don’t believe us? Take it from a former barista! When you order a Peppermint Mocha at Starbucks, they start with your choice of a milk base.
They brew one to two espresso shots (or more, based on the size you order), add pumps of mocha base, peppermint syrup, whipped cream, chocolate curls, and it’s ready to drink! Sounds pretty simple- because it is.
Ready to try it out for yourself?
