When it comes to hotels there are a few criteria that are a must for our family. Amazing Pool, Incredible Grounds and of course post about Kid-Friendly things to do in Sedona.delicious food. Thankfully, Arizona Grand has all the features that we are looking for when we head on vacation. It’s the main reason we have visited this Arizona Grand every year for the past 5 years. It is definitely one of the best places to stay in Phoenix area.
5 Reasons Arizona Grand is a Fantastic Family Getaway
1) Oasis Water Park
Not just a pool. Arizona Grand Resort is equipped with its very own WATER PARK!!! Voted by the Travel Channel as one of the country’s Top 10 Water Parks, families can spend their days in the wave pool, going down one of the three slides nestled in an eight-story high slide tower or float around in the lazy river.
Have a baby… they’ve got you covered with a cute splash pad and shallow baby pool.
It’s true that Arizona can be incredibly HOT so another perk that I noticed was all the available shade. And, if you are really concerned cabanas are located all around the Oasis Water Park and are available for rent.

2) Well Appointed Spacious Rooms
We are a large family and so SPACE is not only nice… its a necessity. That’s no problem for the Arizona Grand where you can choose from their one, two and three bedroom suites and villas spread across their massive property. They have 744 rooms available so finding one that fits your family won’t be a problem!
A few things I LOVE about their rooms are the separate living room with its own tv (there is a separate tv in the bedroom as well) and queen sleeper sofa. This comes in handy when you have kids with separate bedtimes. Each room is equipped with a mini-fridge perfect for holding Olivia’s milk. And, there is plenty of closet and drawer space to keep everything organized.
I do recommend trying to stay near the water park when you visit with kids. That is where you are going to spend a ton of your time and the resort is SO massive you don’t want to be on the other side of the property where you have to drive over to the pool. *This past trip we stayed in the Sonora Building which was perfect!!
3) Expect Top Notch Service
Absolutely! No problem! Of course! All things you will hear when you ask for- well just about anything– at the Arizona Grand Resort. Whether you need a portable crib for the baby brought up asap, want a cocktail and need a milk for the baby while lounging at the pool, want directions or ideas for something to do etc… The staff at the Arizona Grand are there to serve and do it with a smile.
4) Water Slides aren’t your thing… How about Golf, Horseback, Hiking, Biking, Hitting Up the Gym or Shopping??
The options are pretty limitless when it comes to local activities at The Arizona Grand Resort & Spa.
Are you a golf lover? Arizona Grand Golf Course is a diverse and challenging par 71 layout with gorgeous views of the desert landscape.
Want to get your nature love on? The property boasts plenty to see at the South Mountain Preserve. With over 17,000 acres and recently named by National Geographic as one of the top locations for hiking and outdoor escapes, South Mountain Preserve is the largest municipal park in the country. It boasts more than 60 miles of trails for mountain biking and hiking for all skill levels. Plenty of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
Or if you want to kick back indoors check out the 20,000 square foot Arizona Grand Athletic Club. Voted one of the “Top 10 Fitness Facilities in Arizona” the Arizona Grand is one of the few award-winning Arizona spas and fitness facilities in Phoenix. It includes:
- More than 40 cardiovascular machines, including Paramount and Icarian strength training equipment
- Separate free-weight room
- More than 45 fitness classes per week
- Indoor racquetball court
- Five-lane, 20-meter, heated lap pool
- Expert fitness assessments and personal training
Or if you are like me you won’t shy away from all the fantastic malls nearby. I personally love the Scottsdale Fashion Square even though its a little further away. You can also shop until you drop at Arizona Mills, Phoenix Premium Outlets, Kierland Commons, Desert Ridge Marketplace and the Biltmore Fashion Park. You definitely won’t leave empty handed 😉
5) Six Amazing Dining Options ON Property
Whether you fancy a steak, seafood or Mexican Arizona grand has got you covered. With 6 unique dining options available there is definitely something for everyone.
A few of our favorites are wood-fired pizzas on the patio at the Lobby Grill, grabbing a quick breakfast or gelato at the Marketplace Cafe and my personal fav- nachos paired with a prickly pear pina colada at the Oasis Bar & Grill (poolside).
The kids would tell you hands down Rustler’s Rooste perched atop a hill on the resort overlooking the gorgeous reserve I can’t blame them. But, the kids aren’t there for the scenery- NOPE! They want to see “Horny the Bull” a live steer that lives in front of the restaurant, they want to wear their own bullhorns when they arrive and they want to slide down the indoor slide into the restaurant. It doesn’t hurt that their kid’s meals come with fresh spun cotton candy either 😉 A definite must stop while visiting The Grand.

We stayed at the Arizona Grand earlier this year and we had a great time! Our family loved the water park and Rustler’s Rooste might be my kids’ favorite restaurant ever.
