Olivia is a very lucky girl to be loved by both her biological and her adoptive families. It is so good for her to know that her biological parents wanted the very best for her not that they didn’t want her! I think you are all very amazing and all very blessed to have such a beautiful little girl love both her families so much!! Again you and your family are an inspiration to so many families out there. Thank you for sharing Olivia’s life story with us. And for sharing your amazing family with us everyday and making us feel a part of your family!

Thank you SO SO much for sharing your sweet and inspiring story. My family and I are looking into doing open domestic adoption and have no idea where to start. Would you mind sharing the approximate costs you’ve come across with an agency vs a private attorney? Also what states did you limit to and why? We really feel adoption is right for our family but I’m so worried about the birth mom choosing to keep the baby, how did you overcome those fears? Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks for this amazing story. I hope to adopt when I have my own family and change the adoption story here in my country. My question is that in this part of the third world countries where adoption is always consider as a odd thing, how can we change the narrative as an adoption advocate?

In reply to sarah matter arndt. Hi Sarah, We limited our search to Florida and Georgia. They seemed to have laws that were more protective of the adoptive family.

What words of advice do you have for explaining to a child why they were the only one of their siblings their mother and father did not keep and raise? How do you respond when she asks when she gets to go home to them. How did the boy you adopted react to seeing parents give their child up?
