This is a sponsored post in partnership with iD Tech, however, as always all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
Learning does not always have to be about grades and tests, in fact, sometimes the most important learning has nothing to do with those things. That is why I love finding camps and online learning sources like iD Tech for my kids to participate in. I can count on my kids having so much fun in their virtual tech camps and private lessons, and on top of that, they walk away with such important skills! Many of the changes and advancements that make up today’s world are thanks to those working in STEM fields. In fact, if you look at the fastest-growing occupations in the US today, you will see that an overwhelming number of them involve science, technology, engineering, and math. Because of this, I want my kiddos to not just learn these subjects but to actually ENJOY them! iD Tech is all about taking kids’ passions like apps, Youtube, and video games and turning them into valuable skills. In my opinion, this is one of the best ways to invest in your child’s future.
What is iD Tech?
For over 20 years, iD Tech has been hosting tech camps for kids and teens. They have a reputation as one of the best summer STEM educators. iD Tech is focused on helping your child find a lifelong success and love of all things tech. They really want to inspire kids to shape the future through tech, which is an attitude I absolutely love.
Your child can learn about a wide variety of tech topics through iD Tech. They have programs with curriculums focusing on Python, Java, Minecraft, Roblox, AI, Unreal Engine, Adobe, 3D modeling, video game design and more. This gives your child the chance to further their knowledge on a subject they love, or discover something entirely new that interests them.
Where are they located?
iD Tech began with in-person tech camps on various campuses, like UCLA, Stanford, Northwestern, and Columbia. However, now your child can also partake in an online program! We love this option because it provides a lot of flexibility, while still keeping that “Silicon Valley spirit” of being innovative and pushing through boundaries. iD Tech offers both online private lessons and Virtual Tech Camps. The online private lessons are great if you are looking for flexibility and a program tailored to specific interests. The Virtual Tech Camps are awesome as well and provide a chance for collaboration.
What exactly will my child be learning at iD Tech Virtual Camp?
The coolest thing about iD Tech is that they understand each child has different interests and reasons for expanding their knowledge. This means many of their camps and online programs are highly customizable. Shea is currently taking private lessons and learning to make a FIFA-style 3D soccer game and last year Ella took a course on video production for Youtube. 5 Reasons We Chose Online Private Lessons
While all of ID Tech’s programs are amazing, online private lessons are our favorite. How cool is it that your child can receive one-on-one attention from an incredible iD Certified instructor? There really is no better way to learn things like coding, Mod Minecraft, or video game development than this. Here are some of the perks that come with private lessons!
1. Flexibility
The online private lesson sessions are just 60 minutes, which is enough time to deep dive into a subject but not so long that your child loses interest. Not to mention, the lessons are tailored to your child’s specific interests. Typically when my kiddos have a say in what they are doing, they are much more enthusiastic learners.
2. One on One Instruction
iD Tech recruits its staff from universities like Stanford, RIT, and Caltech. I love that my kids get to learn and interact with such incredible people. Plus, when our kiddos get one-on-one attention, they seriously flourish. They can move through topics they understand quickly and take their time asking questions with concepts they struggle with.
3. Incredible Course Options
As I have mentioned, iD Tech offers plenty of different courses on varying topics. They make STEM learning fun and exciting. Their private lessons come in bundles of five 60-minutes lessons that are project-based.
Your child can learn basic scripting and electrical engineering concepts through the creations of an adventure map in Minecraft. Another one of the programs will teach them how to use Roblox Studio to create their own game. Shea’s currently taking the Make a FIFA-style 3D Soccer Game with Unity program.
4. Cutting Edge Technology
With the world rapidly changing and new technology constantly being developed, our children’s schools cannot keep up. I can barely keep up! However, iD Tech is always on the cutting edge and I can count on their programs to introduce my kids to all sorts of software and technology.
5. Share with a Sibling or Friend
iD Tech understands we are all in a weird adjustment period right now, many of us with all of our children at home instead of in the classroom. So, they are offering the option for your child to share their private lessons with a sibling or friend! This basically means you will get 2 for 1, which is an incredible deal!
If you want to incorporate STEM learning into your child’s life, I highly recommend looking into iD Tech Virtual Camp and online private lessons. There is not a better time to get your child into this than now! Supplement their learning right from the comfort and safety of your home and let a sibling jump in on the learning, too!
